THALES: WEkEO, a new generation of Earth Observation ground segment oriented towards services
End of last year, digital transformation of Earth Observation ground segment has reached a new end with the operational deployment of a new kind of platform. WEkEO, a Data and Information Access Services (DIAS) sponsored by EUMETSAT, ECMWF and Mercator Ocean is based on an hybrid cloud-based architecture. Cloud hybridization allows each of 3 partners to belong their own and private infrastructure and to extend their activities, when overflowing, to a public cloud infrastructure. WEkEO offers one-stop shop portal for all Copernicus dataset and is open to commercial Earth Observation data. Its market place offers new business opportunity to software integrator as well as researchers and scientists. Presentation will address the history of EO infrastructure architecture evolution and will present WEkEO solution and its capacity for supporting researchers and scientists.
