#11 CANCELLED – Calibration Techniques and Accuracy Considerations for Single and Multi‐Camera Systems (half day – morning)
Calibration of any camera system is essential to ensure that image measurements result in accurate estimates of locations and dimensions within the object space. The emphasis of this tutorial is calibration techniques for single camera and multi-camera systems based on networks of camera locations and 3D calibration objects. The tutorial will consider both systems using artificial targets and natural features typically used by Structure from Motion (SfM) solutions. In particular, the tutorial will concentrate on factors driving the accuracy of the 3D measurements, including calibration parameter sets, the use of constraints within the network adjustment, types of calibration objects, outlier detection, environmental factors and refraction effects.
This tutorial includes a hands-on component using the Vision Measurement System (VMS) software. Participants will be provided with a time-limited version of VMS and given instruction on the capture and processing of a self-calibration solution using the camera of their choice.
